Borra Caves are among the largest and most spectacular limestone caves in India. Located in the Ananthagiri Hills of the Eastern Ghats in Alluri Sitarama Raju District, Andhra Pradesh, the caves are famous for their magnificent stalactite and stalagmite formations, naturally sculpted over millions of years. Situated at an elevation of about 705 metres (2,313 feet) above sea level, Borra Caves are one of Andhra Pradesh’s most visited natural attractions. Discovered by William King in 1807, Borra Caves have become a major destination for nature lovers, geologists, photographers, and tourists. The caves are illuminated with colorful lighting, highlighting impressive rock formations that resemble animals, human figures, and mythological characters. A stream of the Gosthani River flows through the caves, adding to their natural beauty.
