Alluri Sitarama Raju (ASR) District is a tribal-majority district in Andhra Pradesh, India. It was formed on 4 April 2022 as part of the state’s district reorganization and is named after freedom fighter Alluri Sitarama Raju.
The district headquarters is located in Paderu, which serves as the administrative center of the district.
The district was named in honor of Alluri Sitarama Raju, who led the famous Rampa Rebellion against British rule between 1922 and 1924 and became a symbol of tribal resistance and freedom.
Following administrative reorganization, ASR District consists of 11 mandals under the Paderu Revenue Division.
The district is predominantly inhabited by tribal communities, including Konda Dora, Bagata, Valmiki, Gadaba, and other indigenous groups. It is one of Andhra Pradesh’s most significant tribal regions.
